RSS ("Really Simple Syndication") feeds make keeping track of updates to your favourite sites quick and easy.
Most sites these days publish RSS/XML/ATOM feeds to separate their content from its surrounding formatting, making it easy for sites to exchange data with each other.
The best introduction to feeds I've ever seen has to be "Web 2.0 - The Machine is Us/ing Us" by Michael Wesch.
This page is my attempt to compile all of the rss feeds I either control or influence on the web. This is the best way for people to follow my activities online, and elsewhere..
I'm attempting to keep a local archive [/Bookmarks] for all of these feeds, but it's still a work in progress. For faster updates, and better presentation I recommend directly subscribing to the raw feeds in your own RSS client. I personally recommend Google Reader for this, but theres plenty of alternatives around.
All of my feeds tend to be used in different ways, and for different purposes. I'd recommend subscribing to them all to be sure not to miss anything..
AdamDodson.org blog - Web or RSS
(General ramblings on my main blog)
Google Reader shared items - RSS
(99% of my news intake is done via Google Reader, I share heaps)
Digg.com stories - Web or RSS
(I love Digg, but I'm mostly sharing via Google Reader now. Awesome stories get shared in both)
Reddit.com stories - Web or RSS
(Reddit has good stuff, but its losing me to Google Reader too)
SmashcraB.org image gallery - Web or RSS
(Occasional random images posted to my gallery)
SmashcraB.org research archive - Web or RSS
(Only works for members/contributors to the archive)
Twitter updates - Web or RSS
(Tiny updates, for when I'm being lazy)
AllConsuming.net recently consumed - Web or RSS
(A handy way to rate & review new media I discover)
So I haven't updated for a while. I finally gave in and bought an xbox 360 so I could play the masterpiece that is GTA 4. It was sooo worth it :)
I'd like to do a full review/ramble on gta when im done with it, but I don't want to rush my way through it either, so it could be a while.. If anyone wants to add me on xbox live my gamertag is SmashcraB :)
I've dumped way too many hours into this game already, and its distracting me from my other online ventures, but I'll be back to normal soon hopefully..
It might not be obvious yet, but I've made some changes to the news aggregator for the sites bookmarks section, and created a feeds page. I've started using Google Reader to follow the news, importing headlines from thousands of sites and using it share the important ones. Try it. It's helped me absorb massive amounts of info, way faster than I used to..
I don't have the energy to rant on this right now, but I'll leave ya's with a link to some recent QLD news:
Great. Note that they want 95% of the population to be drinking this shit by 2012, on top of what we get in toothpaste, and even the bottled water now. I'm sure the date is a total coincidence :o/
